First Report of Pinnatoxins in Bivalve Molluscs from Inhaca Island (South of Mozambique)—South of the Indian Ocean

The objective of this work was to screen the EU-regulated lipophilic and cyclic imine toxins in four bivalve species (Atrina vexillum, Pinctada imbricata, Anadara antiquata, Saccostrea Cucculata) from Mozambican coast Indian Ocean. Toxins were extracted analyzed according EU reference method for determination shellfish via LC–MS/MS, but no regulated found species. However, pinnatoxins (PnTX G, E, F) detected A. P. antiquata. Higher levels PnTX G determined vexillum (7.7 14.3 µg·kg−1) than imbricata (1.6 2.4 µg·kg−1), antiquata (4.5 5.9 with both hydrolyzed non-hydrolyzed extracts, respectively. higher extracts indicate high potential esterify pinnatoxins, particular G.
